Environmental and social responsibility
We know we're a fortunate bunch, so we try to help others whenever we can. It’s not a PR thing, and it’s never a box-ticking exercise. It’s simply because we love making a difference, so when someone asks for help, we usually try to bend over backwards to make something happen. Here are just a few of the ways we’re inspiring, donating and volunteering.

We aim to inspire our people, our clients, and our partners to see the potential for business to be a force for good. This isn’t just a report – it’s a call to action. A reminder that success isn’t only defined by profits, but by the positive changes we can create together. Click here to view our CSER story book.
Inspiring
This is all about young people, and inspiring them in their education and career. Working with both schools and universities, we provide career mentoring, interview advice, and regular work experience opportunities. We also offer paid internship roles every year, and you’ll often find us giving talks or guest lectures at local universities or schools.
Donating
We regularly donate to all sorts of causes in all sorts of different ways. Whether it’s donating quality work loads and accessories to help women back into employment, donating and volunteering at local foodbanks or supporting community events, such as Durham Lumiere.
We fundraise too, as part of our 30th year we're aiming to raise £30,000 for local charities including St Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham, Brightest Stars in London, Man On Inverclyde near Glasgow and nationally for Alzehiemer's Society. We're undertaking a series of challenges to raise money and providing them with pro bono support on various initiatives.

CEO
Meet Michael"I just think everyone here shares the same determination to do the right thing, and that's naturally reflected in our community work."
Volunteering
We’re proud to provide all sorts of pro-bono support to local charities. Michael gives his time on the Board of Trustees for Edbert’s House, a charity that’s pioneering social prescribing in Gateshead. Sally Waterston is a Director at the Employability trust in Durham that provides the long term unemployed with opportunities to develop new skills. We also work very closely with schools and colleges and have several colleagues who volunteer as school governors.
Diversity, equality and inclusion
We believe any team is strongest when it’s made-up of people from diverse and varied backgrounds. So our DEI team work hard to ensure everyone feels included, welcomed and fulfilled. Enjoying a true sense of belonging.

As a business we understand the need to do business responsibly and that means looking after our planet as well as our people and our communities.
We have updated our baseline carbon footprint for 2023, the first in the post covid era. We have also created a Carbon Reduction Statement which sets out our intention for improving our sustainability credentials as a business.
Part of our plan includes the formation of our Sustainable Solutions Group made up of people from all areas and regions of the business and across all levels of experience to ensure that we are listening to and implementing new ideas on how we can decrease our carbon emissions; not just at our sites and in our communities, but also through the services we provide to clients and providing support and input for their own net zero journeys too where we can.
