Maggie Scullion
Non Executive Director
My role at Waterstons is...
I was introduced to Waterstons during my time in the construction industry and engaged with them to develop a very clever system based on SharePoint which delivered CAD drawings to construction sites. Since that time (over 15 years ago) I have been involved in the periphery of the company keeping up to date with everything that was going on and have now been a non-exec director for several years. It has been an amazing journey and one that I feel privileged to be part of.
My life away from work is...
I am a dressage judge and my horse Monty and I compete in dressage. Walking with Rosie and Orla, my two Border terriers, features high in my list of activities. I love the countryside and living beside the beach helps me indulge in my love of landscape photography.
My sector strengths are...
My working life has seen me take on diverse roles, from working as CIO for a multinational oil and gas company operating in 24 countries with 8,000 employees, having a team in UK, Germany, Russia and Norway, to IT Director for a large independent housebuilder, with offices and sites across the UK and now Programme Director for a large group of vet practices.
I’ve been working in the veterinary industry for 4 ½ years, originally as CIO and now running large programmes of work which are as varied as multi-million-pound hospital builds to acquisitions, introduction of new systems and everything in between. Previously my only exposure to vets was as a client, as I own a horse and two dogs, so seeing life on the inside fills me with admiration for what goes on.
VetPartners are one of the largest consolidators of vet practices in the UK with almost 500 sites across, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Isle of Man, we also have practices in Italy and France with our eyes set on the rest of Europe – we call it our reverse Brexit strategy!
