Programme/Project Manager

We think it’s essential to have a strong, experienced Project Manager (PM) heading up an IT or business change project, and we also know how hard it is to find and retain these people.

Sometimes you may need project management support, but don’t have the time or budget to react quickly, such as:

  • The project is a one-off and you won’t need this skillset again
  • Your in-house PM leaves or goes on long term sick mid-project
  • Your business is going through a period of intense and needs to deliver projects in parallel; you don’t want to hire someone who will not be needed in six to 12 months’ time
  • The project is not going well and you need someone with experience to replace the current PM or support them to turn it around.

Not all contractors are created equal, short-term contractors charge a premium, and you risk ending up with a less-experienced PM than you need.

At Waterstons, our project management professionals have a range of experience from internal activities, providing project management to clients, working directly with client teams on a full or part time basis, and becoming an extension of in-house project management or IT teams.

What are the benefits?

Cost effective

We can mobilise someone quickly to increase or decrease the time they spend with you, so you will only pay for the time you need.

Cover

Behind each PM is a team that can support and cover for them due to planned or unplanned absence; you are contracting a whole team of expertise when engaging with Waterstons.

Honest

We won’t commit to something that we can’t deliver, and will always share the truth as we see it. Our reputation is on the line as well as your project investment, so there is a degree of shared risk; we have no need to keep quiet.

Access to technical experts

At Waterstons we can call on a wide team if technical experts from security, infrastructure, software development and change consultancy. If your project hits an issue that needs technical help to resolve, we can quickly find someone to help work through a solution.

Coaching style

We love to contribute to the increased professionalism of project management, wherever it is. Our PM Service includes the coaching and development of more junior team members, and we’re always happy to participate in initiatives to improve project delivery within an organisation.

Our approach

  • Understand the brief: we’ll match you with someone from our experienced team who has supported your industry, or this project type, previously
  • Get to know the team: people are key to good project delivery, and as trusted advisors we aim to work as if we were part of your organisation, getting to know stakeholders and team members from all levels of the organisation.
  • Adapt: our approach changes depending on the project and client - be that templates and standards, or physical work location.

Ready to reimagine your business?

We’re with you.
